Throughout her career, she has served in local and international roles including committee member, committee chair, regent, director, and president for organizations such as ICRM and ARMA. She enjoys sharing advice and encouragement with the next generation of professionals as they begin to navigate the challenging world of RIM/IG.
Speaker: Caroline Walters, UVA Location: Virtual Caroline Walters is the University Records Officer at the University of Virginia. She achieved the CRM (Certified Records Manager) designation in 2011. She served on the ICRM Exam Development Committee as a Part 6 writer from 2012-2017 and is currently the Regent for Exam Development. At UVA, Caroline provides training and assistance to staff and faculty on the proper management of all records (physical and electronic) and works with technology implementation teams on the development of new electronic records systems. She leads the collection and processing of electronically stored information (ESI) for litigation, FOIA and investigations. Before UVa, Caroline was the Records Manager at the UNC-CH and began her career as a Local Records Analyst with the State of North Carolina. Speaker: Todd Ellison, Records Administrator, City of Durango Location: Virtual Todd Ellison is the Records Administrator for the City of Durango, where he has been assisting (from the records side) with the management of millions of City records in hard copy and electronic formats since 2009. He previously spent 18 years establishing the archival program of the Southwest Studies Center at Fort Lewis College and teaching about it there as a full tenured professor and a Certified Archivist, which included providing digital access to records on the website he developed there at the start of the Internet age, and guiding the design of the new building and then personally moving two linear miles of special collections books, records and artifacts into the new $8 million 50,000 square foot facility. Todd’s previous professional experience included a pilot project to provide public access to photos: the Boulder (Colorado) Public Library was one of the first in the nation to present digital images in a mainstream public access catalog, over 30 years ago. A graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont, his archival graduate level training was at the University of Maryland, where he earned two masters degrees in two years. Both institutions honored him with their awards for the best history research paper/thesis. Todd enjoys kayaking and has always liked to make bicycling part of his work day; during his graduate study years he biked a thousand miles in southern Africa to do his thesis research in archival repositories—similar to the travels of the elephant’s child in Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories for Little Children, though not all the way to the Limpopo River.
Speakers: Becky Pezzoni, Wake County Enterprise Records Manager, CRM Lisa Coombes, Wake County Records Analyst
Speaker: Dan Elam https://activenavigation.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_3bJnIgs_QQCq4GNzjlOjAQ COVID-19 is having a permanent effect on business and society. While the true impacts are yet unknown as the virus continues to evolve – what we do know is that we’re seeing new and emerging Information Governance demands as an unprecedented wave of pandemic-related data is being created, shared and stored. This session focuses on what the IG community needs to concentrate on as business operations return to the “new normal”. This talk will also highlight how to identify potential long-term issues needed to plan for future epidemics and other business-changing events. While things may never be the same, with some anticipation and planning, today’s information governance teams can proactively help organizations succeed.
Does your organization's storage room bring you joy, or does it terrify you? Join Hillary Gatlin from the Duke University Archives and Bobbi Filip from Jackson Lewis P.C. as they discuss cleaning up records storage rooms at their organizations. We’ll discuss strategies for tackling these projects as well as lessons learned. Bring your own horror stories to share! Venue: Seasons 52 @ Crabtree Mall 4325 Glenwood Ave Raleigh, NC 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
House Principal Clerk, James White, will start the tour. 16 W Jones St, Raleigh, NC Tour starts at 11 am! Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the tour starts so we can all enter together. |
